Case Study 2-Child Care

G completed her NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development last year and progressed on to her NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development which she has already completed. She will start her foundation degree in Early years-Childhood Development in September of this year. She came into childcare later in life after changing her career to meet family circumstances. G is a lone parent of a 5 year old son who needs constant care. She has found coping with her training, her family and her job a challenge but one well worth tackling.G completed her NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development in May 2008, while working as a lunchtime assistant. Upon completion of the course, her responsibilities increased as her role changed to a Nursery practitioner. In September 2008, she returned to study for the NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development. She enjoyed the level 3 immensely, and with the support of her tutors, assessor, colleagues and managers at she has been able to complete the programme in a year.She is using her level 3 qualification to gain entry to the foundation degree in Early years-Childhood Development, commencing in September 2009 at Marjons, Plymouth. Once she has completed the foundation degree, it will then allow her to progress to becoming a qualified Early years Professional, with the view to managing an early years setting.
